Position Title: Executive Director
Location: Anson County Arts Council
(Drake Gallery, Arts Council, and Ansonia Theatre)
Salary: Part Time: $32,000 per annum
Position Overview:
The Anson County Arts Council is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Executive Director to lead our organization. The Executive Director will be responsible for overseeing the operations, marketing, and development activities of the Drake Gallery, Arts Council and the Ansonia Theatre. This role requires a proactive individual with strong leadership skills, a passion for the arts, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations Management:
· Organize art shows
· Update administrative procedures as needed
· Reorganization of the facilities as needed
· Oversee the maintenance and operations of the Anson County Arts Council building and the Ansonia Theatre. (Including inspections)
· Oversee the Guest Theatre Directors/permanent Theatre Director and Theatre Manager
· Ensure the facilities are safe, clean, and welcoming for all visitors, artists, and staff.
Marketing and Promotion:
· Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote the Arts Council and the Ansonia Theatre.
· Aim to keep consistent marketing across social media accounts, websites and ads.
· Manage and maintain all social media accounts (ACAC and The Ansonia Theatre), email accounts and forward all needed accounting and billing material for both the Arts Council and the Ansonia Theatre
· Update Website as needed, check on website for volunteer sign ups and newsletter sign ups
Training and Development:
· Continuously train and develop proficiency in Audience view software to enhance theatre operations. Train additional staff on this.
Artist Relations and Programming:
· Solicit and bring onboard new artists for exhibitions and events.
· Organize art shows on a regular basis, ensuring a diverse and engaging lineup of artists and artworks.
· Work with local community to create new workshops.
· Aid in theatre administration alongside Theatre Manager.
Leadership and Administration:
· Provide strong leadership and vision for the Arts Council.
· Work collaboratively with the Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers to achieve organizational goals.
· Work alongside the treasurer and Finance committee to perform administrative duties including budgeting, reporting, and grant writing.
Specific Responsibilities:
ACAC/Drake Gallery:
a. Along with the Board of Directors and other staff, continue to implement the mission and vision of the Anson County Arts Council.
b. Assume clerical responsibility necessary for the operation of the council office, open and answer mail, emails, phone calls, and other requests. File, keep non-financial records, order supplies which include paper, soap, bulbs, tech equipment, etc. Notify treasurer of items to pay.
c. Schedule maintenance and inspections as needed.
d. Manage all aspects of gallery spaces including display and pricing of art. Solicit new artists for gallery. Plan receptions to feature gallery artists.
e. Work with the board to plan and implement all ACAC programs and events. Plan and execute regular ACAC events (Bach’s Lunch, artist receptions, Art Camps, workshops, etc.). Keep statistics on attendance and how we serve.
f. Provide financial accounting of each event to the board via the treasurer.
g. Compose and email monthly newsletter.
h. Attend monthly Board of Directors’ meetings and present monthly report.
i. Enlist and coordinate volunteers as needed.
j. Act as spokesperson for the Arts Council at speaking engagements at public and social events.
k. Coordinate sponsorship and membership campaigns.
Ansonia Theatre:
Manage Box Office: Determine/publicize ticket sales hours, manage/organize box office schedule, and notify all ticket holders and season sponsors when tickets will be available.
Administration:
a. Help plan new season along with Theatre Committee yearly
b. Track/pay expenses for licensing
c. Track and return production materials in a timely manner
d. Coordinate with Theatre Manager, Directors and Theatre Committee on upcoming productions as well as needs of the Theatre
Audienceview:
a. Regularly use Audienceview ticketing software. Keep abreast of updates.
b. Attend regular webinars and train others.
c. Work with Theatre Committee to set up each new season and update available sponsorship packages.
Advertising:
a. Create ads (posters) for upcoming plays and events including graphics, promotions, videos, and keep those current on the latest social media outlets and in area businesses.
b. Maintain and expand email contacts. Maintain current email newsletters with forms, links for events and tickets sales – collect statistics from email campaign.
c. Maintain advertising on radio and television and in publications in surrounding areas.
d. Be responsible for program layout, printing and assembly.
e. Display advertisements for upcoming plays and/or events in lobby and box office.
f. Expand the outreach for our Sponsorship Campaign and Membership Campaign to increase patronage and revenue.
Grants & Funding:
a. Participate in Theatre/ACAC budget development.
b. Search out and support new ideas for additional funding including grants.
c. Make sure that grant applications and reports are filed in a timely manner.
Partnerships:
Promote, encourage and facilitate partnerships with other county non-profit organizations.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in arts management, marketing, or a related field.
Strong leadership and organizational skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Audienceview software or a willingness to undergo training.
Ability to manage social media platforms effectively.
Passion for the arts and a commitment to community engagement.
Work Hours:
Expected to work office hours 12 AM - 4 PM, Tuesday through Friday.
Additional hours will include performances and other events.

Note: This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. The employee may perform other related duties as negotiated to meet the ongoing needs of the organization. The Director will have regular hours at least 4 days per week. Days and hours may vary depending on events and box office schedules. Understand that continued salary is conditional on ACAC being self-sustaining including salary expense, while still meeting goals of service to the community. The contract should be reviewed on a yearly basis or as needed. Revision to the job description may occur as the position evolves. No changes will be made without agreement between parties.
